Marco Orrigo, I am a Roman musician born on 19 October 1985.
My passion for music was born around the age of 4, thanks to my uncle who had a rather shabby guitar. The explosion of my passion was triggered by the cartoon theme songs sung by Cristina D’Avena, in particular my favorite was, and is, “L’Incantevole Creamy”.
The accentuation of my passion was listening to albums owned by my uncle on cassette such as Nevermind, Bleach, Incesticide, In Utero by Nirvana, all the Offspring albums, in particular the first three: “The Offspring”, “Ignition”, “ Smash”.
Other artists I appreciate are: “The Vines”, “The White Stripes & Jack White”, “Kyuss”, “Queens of the Stone Age”, “Melvins”, “Meat Puppets”, “1000 Moods”, “Beck”, “Nine Inch Nails”. I appreciate Marilyn Manson’s early albums musically, but I don’t respect him as a man.
By purchasing a Kurt Cobain-style Fender Mustang, I began to get better at the guitar and understand how alternative rock melodies work and how to perfectly fit the often odd timing into a song.
I attended a Music School for 3 years, receiving a certificate; it helped me understand that alternative rock melodies are a cross between pentatonic, blues pentatonic, hexatonal and chromatic scales.
I think that, as Andy Warhol said, everyone should have their 15 minutes of glory, which is very difficult in a world full of prejudices where it is increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to climb the social pyramid unless you have a significant budget . One of my missions is to help meritocracy, to reduce social prejudices, even in music.
I believe in the “New Age” philosophy, in love without prejudice and faithful. I firmly believe that, as De André said, “artists are the antibodies of society” and if there is no proper turnover between generations, the “antibodies” are no longer there.
Live I play in Rome with a band called “Katma”; unfortunately, not my fault but the sound engineer who took the matter lightly, the 20 songs released with Katma do not have exceptional audio quality, even if they are passable.
With Katma I am recording the third album with the ironic title “Sex, Drugs & Bad Working Experiences”, a title which in my opinion fully reflects the current situation, not only of young people but of an economic and social system in stagnation.
I hope that this song, “I’ll make you dance with me”, brings positive influences in favor of peace in this world “on fire and without values”.

La mia passione per la musica è nata intorno ai 4 anni, grazie a mio zio che aveva una chitarra piuttosto malandata. L’esplosione della mia passione è stata scatenata dalle sigle dei cartoni animati cantate da Cristina D’Avena, in particolare la mia preferita era, ed è, “L’Incantevole Creamy”.
L’accentuazione della mia passione è stata ascoltare album posseduti da mio zio in cassetta come Nevermind, Bleach, Incesticide, In Utero dei Nirvana, tutti gli album degli Offspring, in particolare i primi tre: “The Offspring”, “Ignition”, “Smash”.

Acquistando una Fender Mustang modello Kurt Cobain, ho iniziato a migliorare con la chitarra e a capire come funzionano le melodie alternative rock e come incastrare perfettamente le tempistiche, spesso dispari, in una canzone.
Ho frequentato una Scuola di Musica per 3 anni, ricevendo un attestato; mi è servita a capire che le melodie alternative rock sono un incrocio tra scale pentatoniche, pentatoniche blues, esatonali e cromatiche.
Penso che, come diceva Andy Warhol, tutti debbano avere i loro 15 minuti di gloria, cosa molto difficile in un mondo pieno di pregiudizi dove è sempre più difficile, se non impossibile, scalare la piramide sociale a meno che tu non abbia un budget rilevante. Una delle mie missioni è aiutare la meritocrazia, far diminuire i pregiudizi sociali, anche nella musica.
Credo nella filosofia “New Age”, nell’amore senza pregiudizi e fedele. Credo fermamente che, come diceva De André, “gli artisti sono gli anticorpi della società” e se non c’è un giusto ricambio tra generazioni, gli “anticorpi” non ci sono più.
Dal vivo suono a Roma con una band chiamata “Katma”; purtroppo, non per colpa mia ma del sound engineer che ha preso sottogamba la questione, le 20 canzoni pubblicate con i Katma non hanno una qualità audio eccezionale, anche se sono passabili.
Con i Katma sto registrando il terzo album dall’ironico titolo “Sex, Drugs & Bad Working Experiences”, titolo che secondo me rispecchia in pieno la situazione attuale, non solo dei giovani ma di un sistema economico e sociale in stagnazione.
Spero che questa canzone, “Ti faccio ballare con me”, porti influssi positivi a favore della pace in questo mondo “in fiamme e senza valori”.
