Οι Big Thief ανακοίνωσαν την κυκλοφορία του έκτου στούντιο άλμπουμ τους, Double Infinity, που θα είναι διαθέσιμο στις 5 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025. Μαζί με την ανακοίνωση, η Adrianne Lenker, ο Buck Meek και ο James Krivchenia μοιράστηκαν το εναρκτήριο κομμάτι του άλμπουμ, ‘Incomprehensible’.
Το Double Infinity είναι η συνέχεια του υποψήφιου για Grammy άλμπουμ του 2022, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, και ηχογραφήθηκε τον περασμένο χειμώνα στα Power Station Studios στη Νέα Υόρκη. Για τρεις συνεχόμενες εβδομάδες, το τρίο διέσχιζε με ποδήλατα τους παγωμένους δρόμους του Μπρούκλιν και του Μανχάταν, για να βρεθεί στο ζεστό, ξύλινο στούντιο του Power Station.
Μαζί με μια κοινότητα μουσικών (Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, Mikey Buishas), έπαιζαν επί εννέα ώρες την ημέρα, ηχογραφώντας ταυτόχρονα, αυτοσχεδιάζοντας και ανακαλύπτοντας νέες μουσικές διαδρομές. Η παραγωγή, η ηχογράφηση και οι μίξεις του Double Infinity έγιναν από τον μακροχρόνιο συνεργάτη των Big Thief, Dom Monks.
Το Double Infinity θα κυκλοφορήσει ψηφιακά, καθώς και σε κασέτα, CD και βινύλιο. Για να γιορτάσουν την κυκλοφορία του Double Infinity, οι Big Thief θα ξεκινήσουν περιοδεία στη Βόρεια Αμερική αυτό το φθινόπωρο, με την πρώτη τους εμφάνιση στην Πόλη του Μεξικού. Περισσότερες ημερομηνίες θα ανακοινωθούν σύντομα.
Big Thief will release their sixth studio album, Double Infinity, on 5 September 2025. Today, Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek and James Krivchenia share album opener, ‘Incomprehensible’.
Double Infinity is the follow-up to 2022’s Grammy-nominated album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, recorded last winter at the Power Station, New York City. For three solid weeks, the trio would ride bicycles on frozen streets between Brooklyn and Manhattan, meeting in Power’s Station’s warm wood-panelled room. Together with a community of musicians (Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, Mikey Buishas) they would play for nine hours a day, tracking together – simultaneously – improvising arrangements and making collective discoveries. Double Infinity was produced, engineered and mixed by longtime Big Thief collaborator Dom Monks.
“How can beauty that is living be anything but true?” Adrianne asks as she drives nose against the future with childhood mementos on ‘Incomprehensible’. She understands, “everything I see from now on will be something new.” The silver hairs on her shoulders are new as well. Yet fear of aging is cracked by proof. If a life is shaped by living, “Let gravity be my sculptor, let the wind do my hair.” Being born, then staying a while, remains the greatest mystery. Adrianne claims her place and time. “Incomprehensible, let me be.”
Double Infinity will be released digitally and on cassette, CD, and standard black vinyl. Limited green and ‘Sparkle’ vinyl editions will be available via indie retailers and Big Thief/4AD webstores respectively.
To celebrate the release of Double Infinity, Big Thief will head out on a North American tour this autumn. They will also play their first show in Mexico City. More shows will follow. Tickets are now on sale via the Big Thief website.
